The ‘Aragalaya’ in 2022 had ‘Gota go home’ as their main slogan irrespective whoever the makers of that people’s struggle were, said presidential candidate Nuwan Bopage.

He was participating in ‘Blind Spot’ programme of ‘The Leader TV’.

Bopage said that particular slogan became a reality with Gotabaya fleeing the country and his brother Mahinda going into hiding.

In the end, Ranil Wickremesinghe became prime minister and then the president, with ‘Aragalaya’ activists dispersing to join hands with either the incumbent regime or various political parties, he said.

However, those remained steadfast all along formed the political movement called ‘Jana Aragalaya’, with Bopage contesting for the presidency as its candidate.
