He was addressing a campaign rally held at the Monaragala Pradeshiya Sabha grounds yesterday (18).
The Opposition Leader claimed that intelligence reports have found that he will win the upcoming election with a margin of two million votes in excess and that his counterparts, independent Presidential Candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe and National People’s Power (NPP) Presidential Candidate MP Anura Kumara Dissanayaka are trailing far behind.
Premadasa attributed this self-proclaimed lead in the elections to the blessings he received, by being the first ruler to offer their manifesto to the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy launching his election campaign.
He assured his commitment to protecting religious freedom.
“We will not make this nation a secular country. We will protect the promises stated in the manifesto,” said Opposition Leader Premadasa.
He called upon SJB supporters not to engage in acts of violence or to attack and slander individuals who had supported or voted for opposing parties, once the SJB secures victory, as he claimed such actions do not align with SJB principles.
He also requested supporters of contemporary candidates to vote for the SJB in the upcoming election as their involvement is crucial to secure victory.
“I am inviting the members of all the other parties from the NPP, SLPP, UNP and all other smaller parties. Do not let your vote go to waste at the final moment! Give it to the ‘Telephone’. We will win the Presidential Election with a majority of 2 million votes. The whole country should be ready to rebuild the country.”
“Do not harm anyone who has opposing views. They will also be included in the programme of rebuilding the country,” Premadasa said.
The Opposition Leader said that his party does not have any hidden political deals, fraud, or conspiracies and that the only deal is with the public to reduce their tax burden and save the 22 million citizens of Sri Lanka.
He said that those who are responsible for destroying the country with deception, corruption, and thievery will be brought to justice under an SJB Government, with the collaboration of the Samagi Lawyers Federation and Samagi Buddhi Mandapaya.
Following a two-year plan, the Opposition Leader said that all families living below the poverty line in the Monaragala District will be given a monthly allowance of Rs 20,000 with the aim of alleviating poverty within the district.
“I will close the bar that was opened in the Kataragama Sacred Site, as my first executive decision. So, vote for the ‘Telephone’ and give me, the son of Ranasinghe Premadasa the power,” said Premadasa.
