The surplus waters of the Nilwala movement will be diverted to the dry zone, said Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa.

Premadasa made this statement speaking at a campaign rally in Akuressa yesterday (17).

He said his party raised the difficulties of the public due to the overflow of the river, but the government continued to ignore their plight.

Premadasa accused the incumbent president of ordering the state’s takeover of 10,000 acres of paddy land in the area for other purposes.

He also promised to introduce affordable smart applications to revive tea, cinnamon and other crop productions presently faced with setbacks.
