The SLFP faction led by former president Maithripala Sirisena has decided to join the SJB in support of its presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa.
Sirisena convened the Polonnaruwa Bala Mandalaya of the party and sought their opinion.
The general agreement was to support Premadasa, after breaking away from supporting Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
Then, Sirisena’s son Daham had a meeting with electoral organizers, who upheld that decision.
On both occasions, it was stressed that Rajapakshe had misled their party.
After a court junction against Dayasiri Jayasekara from functioning as general secretary of the party was removed, many party organizers have returned to him.
They too, are now extending their support to the SJB candidate, reports anidda.lk.
