Various reforms in the past two years have enabled Sri Lanka to come up in NGO benchmarks, said senior consultant at CAPS Kithmina Withanage.
He was speaking at the launch of Doing Good Index 2024 report at the Institute of Policy Studies in Colombo on 14 August.
Withanage said the sector has been able to erase its black marks from 2022, with the country reaching the Doing Okay category.
Helpful in that regard were the steps taken by the National NGOs Secretariat such as regulatory conditions being made more meaningful, digitalization of its services and improvements to the accountability and supervision of NGOs, he said.
