The Supreme Court yesterday (24) issued an interim order preventing the implementation of the community advisory committees appointed to carry out the government's development projects.
The court was considering a petition filed by PAFFREL.
The petitioner refers to a letter sent by the Election Commission to the President's Secretary Saman Ekanayake, calling for heads of state institutions to ensure that state resources are not allocated for propaganda activities of candidates who have submitted nominations for the local government election.
It requests a court order to the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and others to comply with the said directives.
