The digital economic strategy 2030 is to be launched at the grassroots level from Kegalle.

Digitalization hit snags for the past years with related projects proving to be unsuccessful.

The main reason cited was the remoteness between the lawmakers and the grassroots and the absence of a long-term plan.

After Ranil Wickremesinghe took over as the president, the strategy was introduced under state minister Kanaka Herath.

A key feature is empowering more than one million small and medium entrepreneurs across the island.

It began on 22 June and is progressing successfully.

Teams from the Youth Services Council are visiting the masses with digital tools such as QR codes, e-commerce and social media for businesses.
