The SJB aims to restore Sri Lanka’s past glory as a centre and paradise for education, said its leader Sajith Premadasa.
He said the ‘Sakvala’ programme will be the launching pad for major programmes through state, private and NGO sectors to bring about that transformation in this modern world.
During the Anuradhapura era, even foreign monks received their education at Maha Viharaya, Jethawanaya and Abhayagiriya, said the opposition leader.
He was speaking after handing over smart classroom equipment and dictionaries for Boralugoda Maha Vidyalaya in Avissawella.
He called for commitment to make Sri Lanka a knowledge-based, smart economy.
