The Executive Grade of the non-academic staff of universities yesterday decided to call off their trade union action.
They have arrived at this decision following a discussion with University Grants Commission Chairman Prof. Sampath Amaratunga.
Non-academic employees of State universities and 19 joint post-graduate institutions have been on strike for nearly 70 days, disrupting the higher education sector in the country.
They initiated trade union action making a number of demands including an allowance which they say was approved in 2017.
