The Deshapremi Jana Balawegaya (DJB), whose general secretary Sugath Hewapathirana is a close confidante of SLPP founder Basil Rajapaksa, is to field a candidate at the presidential polls.
The DJB, with the symbol ‘rhinoceros’, has been recognized by the Election Commission.
It was previously called the Deshapremi Eksath Jathika Pakshaya.
The party supported Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the previous presidential polls and backed the SLPP at the subsequent general election.
