Former Tamil MP M.K. Sivajilingam has challenged NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake to reveal now his stand with regard to decentralizing powers in the future.

Sivajilingam was responding to questions raised by journalists in Jaffna on 11 June over a remark made by Dissanayake following a meeting with the ITAK.

Without expressing his ideas clearly on devolving powers to provincial councils, the NPP leader strongly rejected “living in the past.”

Dissanayake is also said to be behind the demerger of the northern and eastern provinces.

Responding, Sivajilingam likened the NPP’s conduct to the wolf who cried when the sheep got drenched in the rain.

Questioning Dissanayake’s remark to forget the past, the Tamil politician accused his party of intensifying the war, which he said was a genocide against the LTTE and the Tamil people.

In the meantime, SJB leader Sajith Premadasa told a function in Kilinochchi that a government by him would implement the 13th amendment to the constitution.

However, after meeting ITAK leaders in Jaffna on 11 June, Premadasa evaded giving a direct answer about his stand on giving land and police powers to the PCs.
