The Constitutional Council failed at a meeting yesterday (10) to take a decision on a six-month service extension to attorney general Sanjay Rajaratnam.
It was the CC’s second meeting to discuss the president’s proposal in this regard.
Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa who joined it via Zoom, he said needed to be present in person to discuss the proposal further.
CC chairman Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said it is hoped to reach a decision when they meet again on 18 June.
Rajaratnam was appointed the AG on 26 May 2021.
