The Court of Appeal will appoint a five-judge Bench to hear the Writ Petition filed by former Navy Commander Admiral-of-the-Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda against the case in the Colombo High Court Trial-at-Bar on the alleged abduction and forced disappearance of 11 youths from Colombo in 2008.

This decision was taken based on a request made by the Attorney General when the said petition was considered before Court of Appeal President Justice Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne and Justice B. Sasi Mahendran yesterday (07).

The Attorney General pointed out to court that the relevant High Court case is heard before a three-judge Bench and therefore, requested the petition moved to the Court of Appeal be considered by a five-judge Bench.
