A top parliament official accused of seeking sexual favours from female staffers has decided to retire from service prematurely after an investigation started against him.

lankadeepa.lk reports that he was due to retire at the end of this year.

With the accusations already proven, he has been told disciplinary action would be taken against him.

It is up to the speaker to decide if he should be allowed to retire early.

The head of a division, this official was accused of seeking sexual favours from female officers in cases of recruitments and promotions.

Previously, he got suspended for some time over similar charges.
