The leader of the Mawbima Janatha Party (MJP) Dilith Jayaweera has claimed ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ to be the camp that has brought leftist-nationalism together.

It is not a nationalist camp so described in the sial media, he said at a media briefing at the alliance’s office in Borella yesterday (30).

Their gathering is representative of the pure left to look at the country’s problems in a nationalist viewpoint, said Jayaweera.

It will fill a void in the absence of a strong opposition to challenge the government, and to face future elections.

Answering questions over Dr. Sarath Amunugama’s resignation as the MJP chairman, Jayaweera said he received his letter on the day Sarvajana Balaya was formed.

It contained his well wishes only, he said.

Also present at the media briefing were National Freedom Front's (NFF) leader Wimal Weerawansa and secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka (CPSL) G. Weerasinghe.
