The Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test used to test for COVID-19 in people is being carried out daily at the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital (SJGH), Director of SJGH,
Dr. Ratnasiri A. Hewage said.
People using this service will be referred to the dedicated counter located near the Accident Ward of the SJGH.
Once an individual is referred for PCR testing, his/her details will be recorded and the samples will be taken for analysis in a secure manner.
The test results will be released the next day and will be issued in strict compliance to government regulations imposed to protect the privacy of the individual.
Furthermore, individuals aren't required to make an appointment prior to a PCR test.
The price for a PCR test at the SJGH is Rs. 5,000.
Organisations or large groups that require PCR testing are advised to make an appointment.
