The opposition is reportedly having serious doubts if President Ranil Wickremesinghe plans to dissolve parliament and go for snap general elections in agreement with SLPP founder Basil Rajapaksa.
The basis for their suspicion is that those close to the president Ranil Wickremesinghe are now campaigning separately to build their images.
Speaking to ‘The Leader’, a SJB MP said Rajapaksa began his campaign last week, while Ruwan Wijewardene, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Ravi Karunanayake and Sagala Ratnayaka have been carrying out their own image-building campaigns for the past few weeks.
It looks like a general election is going to be held first, said the MP.
