Senaka de Silva, the former chairman of Apey Jathika Peramuna, says he will wrest control of the SJB again.

A closest ally of ex-state minister Diana Gamage, he told the media in Colombo yesterday (10) that Sajith Premadasa would never be allowed to contest under the ‘telephone’ symbol.

De Silva claimed that he was the SJB chairman and gave Premadasa the party leadership with his signature and Gamage signing as the secretary.

He added that Sajith’s leadership would not be recognized, with many court cases filed over the party’s ownership.

Referring to Gamage’s citizenship, he said she was born in Sri Lanka and left for England at the age of 16.

She had returned her British passport before coming back to Sri Lanka.

In recognition of her services, he proposed to the president to grant her citizenship, backdated 10 years, in the same way Henry Olcott and Arthur C. Clarke were given theirs.
