A plan to tarnish the image of former Colombo chief magistrate Prasanna Alwis has come to light.
Lawyers at Hulftsdorp have taken note of this attempt and decided to make swift reactions in support of Alwis.
Promoted to a high court judge now, Alwis had questioned the abuse of law by authorities and issued orders against them when he was a magistrate.
They include rulings that the PTA cannot be used against Wasantha Mudalige, against the misuse of the ICCPR act and he also charged the CID of being biased towards state minister Diana Gamage in its investigations.
A whatsapp message making rounds alleges certain top policemen and judiciary officers had plotted a campaign to insult Alwis.
As the first step, they are to spread falsehoods with regard to certain missing material evidence from the magistrate’s court during his tenure.
However, Alwis himself has complained to the CCD about these missing items.
