The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s disciplinary board will deal with justice minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe for having accepted the acting chairmanship of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, said its general secretary Sagara Kariyawasam.

Rajapaksha was elected to parliament on the SLPP ticket.

Kariyawasam said disciplinary action would also be taken against the SLPP MPs who have allied with the SJB.

The Colombo district court has issued an injunction against Rajapakshe’s appointment in the SLFP.

Meanwhile, the minister told the media in Kandy that there was no reason warranting his removal from the portfolio.

All are aware of the role he has played in reviving the country, he said.

Refuting the existence of a crisis in the SLFP, he said the party was only having issues with regard to certain positions.

Meanwhile, minister Susil Premajayantha told parliament that those trying to be the SLFP leader have not contested elections under its ‘hand’ symbol.

He was responding to a remark made by SJB’s Lakshman Kiriella.
