The president fears a SJB victory at future elections and wants the JVP to win instead, claims SJB spokesman S.M. Marikkar.
The reason is that the president believes the country will collapse again under the JVP and it will give him an opportunity to run the country again, said the MP.
A government under the JVP will be version two of the Gotabaya regime with certainty of downfall, Marikkar told the media yesterday (22).
Speaking further, he said the SJB has a most talented team with the ability to deal with the international community.
The SJB MP also doubted if there was a deal between the government and the JVP against his party.
Last year, the JVP was permitted to hold its May Day rally in front of the Colombo Municipal Council, but that venue requested by the SJB this time had been turned down, he noted.
