The alliance led by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has no intention of naming minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe as its presidential candidate, said vice president of the party Thilanga Sumathipala.
He was speaking to the media yesterday (16) at the UPFA head office.
Sumathipala noted that Rajapakshe being a government minister, they had no reason to side with him as opposed to Nimal Siripala de Silva.
Sumathipala added they were yet to decide on a presidential candidate.
Rajapakshe has claimed that many, including a majority in the SLFP central committee, want him to contest the presidential election.
