Sri Lankans in Israel have been urged by their ambassador to act cautiously in the face of attacks on that country by Iran.

In a facebook post, Nimal Bandara advised them not to leave their workplace or residence except for essential purposes.

He suggested the Sri Lankans kept adequate supplies of dry rations, drinking water as well as medicines and vaccines if needed.

The ambassador also urged Sri Lankans to refrain from circulating pictures, videos etc. in social media in an irresponsible manner, especially those of sensitive nature.

He also called for restraint in the face of disruptions to telephone, internet, GPS services.

In an emergency, they should take shelter in a safe place, taking care of the elderly and the disabled.

The embassy will keep the Sri Lankans informed of developments and is available to provide services in an emergency, he added.
