The Special Task Force (SFT) of Sri Lanka Police stands accused of having abducted a father of two from Horowpothana two weeks ago.
Despite numerous complaints, police started recording statements and investigating only after his family resorted to court action.
The mother of Gonapeenuwala Kapila Kumara Silva said she firmly believed the STF was behind his disappearance on 27 March.
He was last seen having gone to buy a loaf of bread.
The mother, Kumuduni Jayasekara said the STF searched their home on the following day for hidden weapons.
She was speaking to the media courtesy the Prisoner Rights Protection Committee on 09 April.
