The internal rift in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) continues with both factions to the dispute vowing to fight for the right to the headquarters building.

The faction that supports Nimal Siripala de Silva, aided by Chandrika Kumaratunga, says it will take control of the office after the new year and rebuild the party.

The party constitution will be changed and Maithripala Sirisena will not be allowed to be its chairman, said the faction.

In the meantime, Sirisena supporters say they would resort to legal action against their rival.

Also, they will hold a pooja tonight (11) at Munneswaram Kovil in Chilaw to seek blessings for the party and against the conspirators.

It will be followed by a media briefing to be attended by Puttalam district electoral and district organizers and seniors of the SLFP.
