The Court of Appeals fixed 30 April to announce its decision regarding the consideration of a writ application, aimed at nullifying the remand order issued by the Maligakanda Magistrate, against former Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella.

Rambukwella filed the petition seeking to invalidate the remand order issued by the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court under the Public Property Act.

The order pertains to his remand until the conclusion of the trial concerning the alleged substandard immunoglobulin vials scandal.

Meanwhile, the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) has submitted an interim petition, requesting permission to intervene and present pertinent information related to Rambukwella’s petition.

The BASL, through its interim petition, seeks the dismissal of Rambukwella’s writ application.

The Court has further ordered the petitioner to submit any objections related to the submissions presented by the BASL before 22 April.

The Court of Appeal made this announcement following the presentation of facts by Deputy Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama from the Attorney General’s Department and N. Wigneswaran representing the BASL.
