Warrants have been issued against three directors of W.M. Mendis and Co. Ltd. in a case in connection with the non-payment of VAT to the tune of Rs. 3.5 billion.
Arjun Aloysius, Anthony John and Kumarasiri de Silva had not paid the dues as per a previous court order and also failed to appear for a hearing yesterday (01).
The commissioner general of inland revenue has filed the case in the Colombo magistrate’s court.
The court was told that the respondents had filed an appeal in the high court against that court ruling.
The next hearing has been fixed for 06 May.
