There are discussions to gazette all the performance items, including dance elements presented during the annual Esala Perahera festival by the Sri Dalada Maligawa and the Satara Maha Devalayas,
Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela said.
The discussions were held with the President's Secretary, Saman Ekanayake, yesterday (21).
The Diyawadana Nilame pointed out that by gazetting all the items, including the dance elements, they will not be distorted in the future.
During the discussions, he said that it has been planned to specify and gazette the tasks of the participants and the government institutions providing the facilities in order to maintain the historic Esala Perahera festival in Kandy without it being distorted and respecting the ancient customs.
According to a request made to President Ranil Wickremesinghe through the Perahera Memorandum, this programme is to be implemented as per the instructions of the President.
