Senior DIG and Acting IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon has been appointed as the 36th Inspector General of Police of Sri Lanka.
This appointment, in compliance with the stipulations outlined in Articles 41C. (1) and 61E.(b) of the Constitution has been made pursuant to the authority vested on President Ranil Wickremesinghe, said the PMD.
Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake presented the official appointment letter to Tennakoon yesterday afternoon (26) at the Presidential Secretariat.
Tennakoon had been appointed as the Acting IGP on November 29, 2023.
