Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe in Washington DC is spearheading a campaign to lure more US tourists to Sri Lanka.
Expedia, a travel technology company, and Qatar Airways are involved in the effort, with the latter sponsoring the campaign estimated to cost between 30,000 and 50,000 US dollars.
Launched on 29 January, it will run until mid-April and has already shown good results.
US tourists to Sri Lanka so far this year has now risen to 46,344.
The embassy has several other plans to attract US tourists to the island.
