The wholesale prices of a number of vegetable varieties have come down sharply at the Dambulla economic centre.
Carrots are now sold at between Rs. 500 and Rs. 600 per kg, down from Rs. 2,500 a few days earlier.
However, the retail prices of vegetables remain high due to transport and other costs, traders said.
