A retired Army officer now involved with the NPP said yesterday (06) that they would need a duration of just two Poya days to eliminate the drug menace.
Maj. Gen. Aruna Jayasekara was addressing a conference of the tri-forces retirees of the party in Gampaha district.
Party leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake presided at the event at the Sanasa hall at Naiwala, Veyangoda.
It was also attended by MP Vijitha Herath, Air Vice Marshal (retd.) Sampath Thuyacontha, Rear Admiral (retd.) Fred Seneviratne, actor Rodney Warnakula and a number of academics.
More than 3,000 retired tri-forces members participated, with many of seen outside the premises due to a lack of space.
