Two bullets retrieved from the lungs of the police sergeant who died during a raid in Weligama have been sent to the government analyst to determine the weapon used.
JMO Rohan Ruwanpura said the postmortem examination on the body was performed on 31 December at Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
The cause of death has been determined as excessive bleeding from gunshot wounds to the lungs.
The 46-year-old attached to the CCD was killed during a shooting at Pelena in the early hours of the morning.
His remains were later handed over to the relatives.
