Kusal Mendis has been appointed as captain of Sri Lanka’s ODI team, while Wanindu Hasaranga will lead in the T20I format, said a top official of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Selectors led by Upul Tharanga met yesterday (18) afternoon and took those decisions, subject to approval by the sports minister, he said.
With no Test series coming up anytime soon, a decision on a captain for that format will be delayed, added the official.
Harin meets selectors
Sports minister Harin Fernando said modern and strategic plans will help Sri Lanka to return to the top in cricket.
He was speaking after meeting the cricket selectors and high performance chief Sanath Jayasuriya.
Fernando added that he would uplift sports in a manner similar to the president’s taking the country better heights.
