A political analyst has said the country is in danger of coming under a party-based system of governance in the event a JVP-led government is formed.

Vipula Karunatilake was giving an interview to leader of Samabima Party Deepthi Kumara Gunaratne.

“Soon after the JVP gains power, the state becomes null and void. The party will be the state,” he said, citing China as an example.

Even under ministers from the JVP, the same thing happened, Karunatilake claimed.

He also said a JVP administration could also change the system of punishment for crimes, as described by that party’s Samantha Vidyaratne.

Karunatilake challenged intellectuals in the JVP to deny his claims.

He added that he would leave the country if the JVP comes to gain power of the state.
