President Ranil Wickremesinghe has deceived the people by promising to grant deeds to 50,000 houses in Colombo city, SJB MP S.M. Marikkar has alleged.
Contrary to the president’s claim in his budget speech, there are only 14,512 housing complex units in the city, the MP said yesterday (29) during the committee stage debate on budget 2024.
The aim of the president’s false claim is to find a place for Sagala Ratnayake in Colombo and to get him elected to parliament, Marikkar also charged.
He challenged the president to do so if possible.
