The Presidential Secretariat has sought the opinion of the attorney general if a cabinet decision can be challenged in parliament.
It follows instructions given by president Ranil Wickremesinghe who has considered complaints by government MPs that certain members questioned cabinet decisions during the budget debate as points of privilege.
The AG has been asked to determine if such are an abuse of parliamentary privileges.
