Police arrested six organizers as the north and the east held remembrances for the LTTE members who died in the war.
All the arrests were made in the east, at Tharavai LTTE cemetery in Batticaloa.
That happened on the night of 27 November, on Maaveerar day when relatives offered floral and other tributes to their closed ones, also attended by Tamil politicians.
They were taken into custody for displaying red and yellow coloured flags, similar to ones used by the proscribed LTTE.
Elsewhere, police disrupted the remembrance events which mainly focused on cemeteries where LTTE members are buried.
