President Ranil Wickremesinghe has proposed the appointment of a select committee to make a determination on the Constitutional Council.
Speaking in parliament yesterday (24), he noted that MP M.A. Sumanthiran had refuted him when he claimed the CC was part of the executive.
Wickremesinghe referred to the verdict in the court case into the 17th amendment to the constitution and said it has been proposed that the CC be part of the executive.
Its task is to assist the executive president in making appointments to high posts, he added.
