MP Namal Rajapaksa said his party always respected the judiciary.

His comment came after the Supreme Court yesterday (14) held the three Rajapaksas – Gotabaya, Mahinda and Basil - and several others are responsible for mishandling the economic crisis.

MP Rajapaksa said that being fundamental rights petitions, only written evidence was considered and no oval evidence called.

The best place to discuss the economic crisis at length is parliament, he also said.

Parliament being the responsible authority on financial powers, lawmaking and law enforcement, a select committee could make an in-depth analysis of the matter, he said.

A PSC can call for evidence to cover every sphere, said the MP.

A PSC already in place to inquire into the economic crisis is capable of extensively calling for evidence and cross-examining the same, he added.
