The hierarchy of Sri Lanka Cricket became close to president Ranil Wickremesinghe via his advisor and chief of staff Sagala Ratnayake, alleged former skipper Arjuna Ranatunga.
Now appointed chairman of the cricket interim committee, Ranatunga was giving an interview yesterday (05) to ‘Truth With Chamuditha’ YouTube channel.
He blamed SLC authorities for the sorry state of the country in world cricket, alleging that they had worked to the tune of an Indian deal-maker.
Ranatunga also faulted Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardena for the low Sri Lanka cricket has fallen into.
He said that he would show results within six months if given powers and the team he asks for.
“Those who want to play for the country should be retained and the others expelled from the team,” he said.
The 1996 World Cup winning team is capable of scoring more than 55 runs against the present Indian team, Ranatunga remarked.
SLC had been a den of corrupt thieves, whose bigwigs came in Maruti cars and now travel in Benz car, he said, asking that they be investigated and sent to prison.
The sports minister wants to take cricket on the correct path, but they are against it.
