As much as 56.5 billion US dollars had been deposited abroad by Sri Lankan businesses in the past 12 years, claimed justice minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe.
Speaking to the media yesterday (31), he said those were not ill-gotten monies, the loss of which caused the economy to collapse.
Rajapakshe said such state-owned money have now been invested in businesses in other countries.
He blamed Ajith Nivard Cabraal for the situation, since he became the Central Bank governor in 2006, noting that he vehemently opposed his appointment.
