The Supreme Court ruling against SLMC’s Naseer Ahamed will have no impact whatsoever on the breakaway MPs of the SLPP, said Prof. G.L. Peiris.
He was speaking to the media at the Freddom People's Congress (FPC) head office at Nawala yesterday (09).
Prof. Peiris also said a new public mandate was needed for the abolition of the executive presidency.
According to the law, the presidential election should take place before September 2024, he noted.
The MP went onto say that the government had introduced an online safety bill to silence the increasing public opinion against it.
If adopted, the bill will take the country’s technology sector 30 years backwards, he warned.
