The country’s culture should be respected by the old and new generations alike, said SLPP MP Namal Rajapakse.
Addressing a party function in Tangalle, he said parents had a responsibility to create a child who respects cultural values, be it Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim or Burgher.
In turn, a child should not be ashamed of wearing clothes according to his or her respective culture, he said.
A society that respects culture and religion can help achieve economic dividends for the country, added the MP.
