The vacant post of general secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has attracted the attention of several party seniors.
According to party sources, senior deputy secretary Sarath Ekanayake and national organizer Duminda Dissanayake are ahead of the others in this race.
Since Dayasiri Jayasekara’s ouster, Ekanayake was appointed to the position on an acting capacity, but a court order has prohibited him from functioning.
At present, Dushmantha Mitrapala is covering the duties of the position, with a permanent appointment expected shortly.
