An ASP attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been transferred on allegations of having aided the underworld leader and drug trafficker Nadun Chinthaka alias ‘Harak Kata’.
The IGP has ordered his immediate transfer on suspicion that the ASP had helped the criminal to flee from the custody of the CID headquarters recently.
It has come to light that during night visits, he had spoken to Chinthaka about his court case.
He has also asked the CID to handover investigations into the criminal.
Constable interdicted
Meanwhile, police have interdicted the constable who is now in hiding after helping Chinthaka in his escape attempt.
