Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa is alleging the government is going to sell one of the state-run television channels in the face of the country’s financial woes.
It is preparing to sell off most of the national assets, including Channel Eye of the SLRC, he told a function in Ampara yesterday (14).
The channel has already been leased to the private sector without following procedures and sans any transparency, he said.
At this rate, the government would not hesitate to privatize even those schools and hospitals under the state, Premadasa added.
He vowed to resist attempts to sell the state’s educational and health facilities.
