One hundred and twenty specialist doctors, out of a total of 263 ho have had overseas training in the past 18 months
, had left the country without informing authorities, said the Health Ministry.
They include 11 anesthetists, director of tertiary services at the ministry, Dr. Priyantha Atapattu said.
During the period, as many as 667 doctors had been sent for specialist training, while a further 617 are awaiting foreign training, he said.
Giving details of the cost of training, Dr. Atapattu said the state spends Rs. 15 million per full scholarship holder and Rs. 08 million per partial scholarship holder.
