While farmers elsewhere remain severely affected by the prevailing drought, around 2,000 acres of paddy land in the Walawa area have been flooded.
According to Neth News, Liyangastota and Ridiyagama farmers are thus affected due to the mouth of the Walawe River being blocked with sand.
Authorities are yet to address the issue despite being informed many times.
