IGP C.D. Wickramaratne has ordered an investigation against the OIC of Veyangoda police over the proceedings of an inquiry led by him being released to the social media.
It is an instance against the privacy of persons, said the police.
Acting police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara told Neth News that even previous directives by the IGP advise against proceedings of police inquiries being released to any media.
DIG Gunasekara said the investigation would start today (07).
